New instance of comments and reflections

The Association for the Progress of Communications (APC), the Information Network for the Third Sector (RITS) and the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry (LACNIC) invite to participate of the remote debates that which was held from September 8 to 11, in continuity of the Regional Preparatory Meeting of the IGF that took place in Montevideo on August 20th.

All the presentations done by the panellists and the webcasting files of the meeting in Montevideo are available in the LACNIC webpage at:

The reflections and conclusions of the meeting done by the panellists Alicia Richero and Valeria Betancourt are available at:

The aim of this instance was to enable the participation to all those that for different reasons could not attend the meeting in Montevideo and at the same time deepen the debates with a major availability and flexibility of the assigned time in relation with the four topics developed in the meeting.

For this purpose 4 mailing lists had been created, corresponding to the 4 panels in which the Montevideo’s meeting was structured:

  • Panel 1: ‘How to reach the next billion users?’
  • Panel 2: ‘Promoting Cybersecurity and Trust’
  • Panel 3: ‘Critical Internet Resources’
  • Panel 4: ‘Emerging Issues’

Each topic (panel) was developed in one unique day, for a period of 5 hours, where those who were interested could give their opinions and participate in the remote debate.

The summary of each debate could contribute as an input from the region for the final meetings in preparation of IGF in Geneva.
